Wide Awake
Just a poem I wrote to my Guru and to Guru Tattva, to which we owe everything.
Wide Awake
From the feet of the guru,
comes power unending!
I heard a sacred word & now
my mind is bending
away from accustomed shapes…
gone are forms familiar!
I have never been more confused -
& I have never been clearer!
& compared to this sound I heard,
nothing is dearer!
by chanting it always, a beggar I’ve become
whose inheritance is the entire universe!
So all I have to say these days is
“Oh fuck!”, “what?!” & “Thank you, mom!”
All because I touched those holy feet,
The bite of a cobra…
And now we drink poison all night long
Telling beads & singing songs
wide awake, beyond the world of men
We’ll sleep when we’re dead!
And perhaps not even then!
Because:
Now we’re wide awake
wide awake, always.
